T1X Façade Nears Completion

Dublin Airport T1X Exterior November 2008

Almost 90% of the glazing for Dublin Airport’s Terminal One Extension (T1X) has now been successfully installed.

The glazing panels, which weigh up to 300 kilogrammes each, have been lifted into position during the past few months and now cover the vast bulk of the exterior of the new facility.

A large gap has been left in the centre of the façade to create a loading bay for large items such as the escalators and lifts which are due onsite very shortly.

The €55 million extension to Terminal One is due to open next May. The project, which will greatly improve the passenger journey to Pier A and Pier D, will add additional circulation space and new airside retail units.
