More than half a million hours have now been worked on the T2 project without a single reportable accident.
The target of 500,000 hours accident free, which was a key goal of the recent T2 safety campaign, was reached on Thursday, 15 January. The last reportable lost time accident on the project occurred on November 8. A reportable accident is an accident that results in a worker being away absent from the job for more than three days.
“This is a great achievement and well done to all involved for working safely,” said DAA Infrastructural Development Director Colm Moran.
“Hitting the milestone of 500,000 hours worked without incident is the beginning not the end,” Moran added. “Our new target is to pass the one million hour mark without a reportable accident. Building Dublin’s new terminal safely is the core priority for the entire T2 management team.”
As part of the T2 project’s constant focus on safety, members of the T2 management team are walking the site each week with directors of trade contractors working on the job to examine site conditions and engage with the workforce on how improvements can be made.
Workers are also being encouraged to report any unsafe practices and pieces of faulty equipment onsite.
